Foyer Richelieu Welland Opens New Long-Term Care and Hospice Facility - Centre Mountainview Building Group
128-bed home and 10-bed hospice strengthen bilingual senior care and community services in the Niagara region.
WELLAND, ONTARIO. October 31, 2025 – The official ribbon cutting was held for the new Foyer Richelieu Welland Long Term Care Home.
The new 128-bed long-term care home is co-located with a 10-bed hospice run by Hospice Niagara.
The new three-storey building is named Centre Mountainview Building Group in recognition of a leadership gift to the Touching Lives Campaign that raised $14 million from individuals and families, companies and organizations to help fund the build.
The home features ground floor community space with a bistro, multipurpose room, chapel and celebration room. The outdoor space includes a large patio with gazebo and gardens.
The new Foyer Richelieu will provide 66 new and 62 upgraded beds in private, semi-private and basic rooms. Features include larger resident common areas and air conditioning throughout the home.
The design is centred around resident home areas (RHAs) that create more intimate and familiar living spaces for up to 32 residents. Each of the four RHAs includes dining and activity areas, lounges and bedrooms.
Foyer Richelieu Welland is the only bilingual long-term care home in Southern Ontario, serving residents and families between Windsor, Toronto and the Niagara Corridors. Services are provided in French and English.
Once residents in the original Foyer Richelieu, located on the same site, are moved into their new home, work will begin to create Maison Richelieu.
This retrofitted home will provide assisted living for residents in 17 one-bedroom wellness suites and 38 bachelor units. There will be an atrium, chapel, dining room, multipurpose room and landscaped outdoor space.
Located beside these homes is Résidence Richelieu with 49 independent living apartments for Francophone elders.
