St. Catharines, ON - Today we are thrilled to celebrate and recognize a lead gift made to Pathstone Foundation.
On Thursday, September 13th, the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) announced this year’s recipients of their upcoming National Philanthropy Day awards.
Mountainview Homes is being honoured with the Outstanding Corporation Award. This award is presented annually to a company that has demonstrated outstanding financial support, community involvement and motivation of others to take leadership roles.
In keeping with the spirit of AFP’s Philanthropic honour, Mountainview’s President Mark Basciano announced a lead gift from Mountainview Homes to Pathstone Foundation in support of our Natural Playground & Healing Garden. This 10,000 square foot outdoor space will be built at the new Branscombe Mental Health Centre in St. Catharines. An official ground breaking is set for Tuesday, October 2nd.
“Mark expressed excitement in this project from our first conversation. Because of this extremely generous gift, we are able to start construction next month on what will be the first Natural Playground & Healing Garden built at a children’s mental health facility in Canada. This outdoor space will soon become a favorite spot for our young clients who are coping with mental health issues through therapy at Pathstone.”
Kim Rossi, Director of Philanthropy & PR at Pathstone.
Over the last four decades Mountainview has made substantial donations to various organizations including, but not limited to; Pathstone Foundation, Hotel Dieu Shaver, Niagara College, Brock University Rugby, Local Youth Sports, Nick Basciano Community Centre- Thorold Community Care and McMaster SickKids
“At the end of the day it’s not about what we have or what we have accomplished, it’s about what we have given back. It’s about making a difference for someone else, who we help, and who we make better. We are thrilled to be part of this project. Not only is it leading edge in Canada, but it definitely will make a very positive difference in the lives of young people dealing with mental health issues.“
Mark Basciano, President of Mountainview Homes
“Our Natural Playground & Healing Garden will be a unique, innovative and transformative initiative for our community. Research has long supported that for young people dealing with mental health issues, time spent in a natural environment is calming, reduces feelings of stress, fear, anger and aggression and improves functionality, focus and self-esteem. We are so grateful to Mark and Mountainview for their generosity and display of such strong community spirit.“
