Siding, Soffits, Facia & Trough

There are several areas that are caulked to prevent water from entering the building envelope. Caulking is a flexible material that deteriorates over time and will eventually need to be replaced. Areas that will require regular recaulking include trough corners, the tops of metal roof flashings where they meet the brick, etc...

Siding can be cleaned by lightly scrubbing any obvious dirty areas first using a long handled brush and a mild non-abrasive detergent, then hosing the siding gently. Do not use a high pressure stream as this may force water through the siding into the walls.

Minimal amounts of standing water in eavestroughs is normal. Normal home maintenance includes keeping the eavestroughs and downspouts free of debris that can clog the system.
